Mayor donates to orphans and the disabled
BURGERSFORT
Christmas came early for the orphans and the disabled people in Fetakgomo Tubatse.
Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s Mayor, Cllr Eddie Maila says despite the challenges that municipal residents face such as poverty and other socio-economic challenges, it is important to put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate.
Maila was speaking after donating Christmas groceries and gifts to orphans at Dilokong Orphanage in Driekop on Tuesday.
The mayor was accompanied by FTLM speaker Pheladi Pholoane and Exco Commiteee members.
The team not only donated to the Dilokong centre. They also proceeded to Mantshatlala Disability Centre at Mphanama village Magagamatala section, wherein they handed Christmas groceries and other gifts.
Maila said the aim of the donations was part of improving the standard of living of
orphans, and the disabled and also spending a day with them to make them feel loved, appreciated and putting a smile on their faces.
He added, “This is part of our community programmes that are aimed at getting government closer to the people, sharing a smile with the children and to create more visibility of leadership to communities ,” he said.
One of the recipients told Sekhukhune Times.
“We got a chance to meet the Mayor in a more sociable manner, he is very accommodating.”
