SDM holds its first mayoral committee meeting

GROBLERSDAL – Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Executive Mayor, Stanley Ramaila on Friday 10 December 2021 chaired the first official mayoral committee meeting since its constitution following the 1 November local government election.

Executive Mayor Ramaila congratulated the newly appointed MMCs and reminded them of the enormity of the work that awaits them – which is to provide services to the people of the district.

When relaying the message of Political Management Team – whose purpose is to ensure effective political management of the institution which comprises Council Speakers, Julia Mathebe, Executive Mayor Ramaila and Council Chief Whip, Kgwediyebotse Chego, Executive Mayor Ramaila said “PMT has made it clear that it is going to be business unusual. We are going to strengthen the political evaluation and monitoring function.

The mayoral committee expresses condolences to the family of Gladys Rapholo from Ga-Matlala outside Polokwane, whose body was found by search and rescue teams after her car was swept off by floods in Steelpoort.

“We pass our sympathies to the bereaved family and wish them strength at this time of grief. Our thoughts are also with the family of Godfrey Moraba, who is still missing after his taxi was also swept off by the floods” sad Executive Mayor Ramaila.

The mayoral committee urges road users, motorist and pedestrians alike, to observe road regulations and stay safe during the festive season.

As the country and world still battle the infectious omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus, the people of Sekhukhune are urged to continue observing protocols to avoid contracting the virus.
