EMLM spends 100 percent MIG

GROBLERSDAL – Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality is also one of Sekhukhune District Municipality’s local municipalities that recently received an award from the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) in Limpopo for spending 100 percent Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG).

This comes after the local municipality managed to spend 100 percent of its MIG in the financial year 2019/2020.

The MIG is a conditional grant from the national government which goes to local government for maintaining and improving municipal infrastructure.

The local municipality mayor, Julia Mathebe, reiterated that the 100 percent MIG spending bore witness of the strong financial management, sound internal controls and a robust budgeting process.

Mathebe said that was proof that that Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality spent funds at its disposal efficiently and effectively towards meeting the targets set out in their improved service delivery for the communities they served.

On behalf of the political leadership of the local municipality, Mayor Mathebe thanked every employee for the hard work.

The local municipality resembles the achievements of Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality and Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality in the accolade.
