Talented netball team in dire need of sponsorship
NTWANE – A talented netball team from Moutse within the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality is in dire need of funding to sustain their consistency in honouring its league games and tournaments.
The team is mostly made up of players who were part of a blissful talent from Moroathebe Primary School in Ntwane Village, Dennilton outside Groblersdal, which represented the country at a tournament in Singapore.
Despite challenges of lack of sponsorship the young ladies preserved to date to ensure they partook in netball games across the country through the leadership of Dinao Lerutla.
Now the team is faced with a huge challenge of participating in a tournament to be held in Cape Town in December.
Lerutla says it has been a struggle for years to find a sponsor for the team which performs to its best of abilities.
The mentor says she is worried about the issue of lack of sponsorship for the abundance of talent in the blissful team.
“They are extremely talented and we started back at Moroathebe Primary School when we represented the country at a tournament in Singapore. More than 90 percent of those players are still with the team. The tournament was supposed to be held in August but was moved to December due to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 infections in the country,” explained Lerutla.
Moutse Fighters started when the girls were seven years-old in Grade 3. Lerutla was their coach and class teacher then. They are now playing for Sekhukhune U/21.
They won Limpopo and SASN U/12, U/13, U/14 and Motsepe U/15 and were also position 3 in Fast 5 as Moroathebe Primary School.
They went to Singapore in 2017 representing South Africa in the 9th International Youth Championships and obtained position 5 internationally.
In 2018, one of their players was selected as the best player for U/16 SASN AND the team won Limpopo Sports Awards as best team. They played for Sekhukhune U/19 at NSA championship and obtained position 4. In 2019 one of their players was selected for U/19 NSA National Development Squad.
In 2020, the team played for Sekhukhune U/21 in Bela Bela. Now they will be playing for Sekhukhune U/21 in a tournament to be held in Cape Town.
“I love them big time. Now I am their friend more than a coach, teacher and mother. Please let us make their dreams come true,” concluded Lerutla.
