BPSA applauds justice department for speedy action after concerns raised
MOUTSE – The Bolsheviks Party of South Africa has commended the Limpopo Department of Justice and Constitutional Development for speedily swinging into action following a complaint the party lodged to the department about the Moutse Magistrate’s Court.
BPSA applauded the department for sending a representative on a fact finding mission to the court after it lodged a complaint about its the running, especially prosecution of criminals.
Seun Mogotji, BPSA leader, said the move to lodge a complaint with the department was after they received concerns from members of the community of Moutse who have been frustrated about the running of the court.
Mogotji informed following the department’s fact finding mission, they now fully understood that while certain cases were brought to court, some of them needed SAPS investigating officers to bring forward more evidence.
“It was always going to be difficult to prosecute and successfully convict if cases had loopholes and lacked supporting evidence beyond any reasonable doubt. In this regard, the police were the weakest link and not the magistrate’s court as perceived,” said Mogotji.
Mogotji added that they wished the department could make the magistrate’s office accessible, especially to community leaders of Moutse and its representatives so that in future when there are issues, they could be addressed through easily accessing the office.
“We hope to continue with this mutually beneficial relationship with the department going forward and that our apology is received with the warmth it is given,” concluded Mogoji.
