BPSA calls for intervention at Moutse Magistrates Court

MOUTSE – The Bolsheviks Party of South Africa (BPSA) has lodged a complaint with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in Limpopo on the running of the Moutse Magistrates Court.

BPSA said it requested the intervention of the office and an investigation instituted into the running of the court and conduct of its certain senior members.

According to the party, for far too long the people of Moutse were under the impression that the South African Police Service (SAPS) Dennilton was ineffective but it has now come emerged that the problem was the dysfunctional and irrational court which has a soft spot for criminals.

The party alleges that no matter how water tight cases are, offenders are released from the court on some unfathomable technicalities.

Seun Mogotji, BPSA leader, said a recent example of the court’s incompetency was the arrest of men who stole water tanks provided to aid the community with access to water in Ntwane area who were caught with the tanks in their possession and police presented all the necessary documents and evidence but the suspects were released from the court for lack of evidence.

Mogotji said another example among many was the case of a man accused of domestic violence who was released from the same court for lack of evidence despite the victim and her children showing bruises.

“We ask that the department intervenes and find out what the court is doing to have cases struck off the roll under very questionable and suspicious circumstances. They must also find out why repeat offenders continue to get free bail from the court,” said Mogotji.

The leader said they hoped for a positive response from the department as Moutse has become a crime hotspot with a dysfunctional court.

The paper has seen a response from the department which acknowledged receipt of the complaint and promised to conduct an enquiry relating to the complaint.
