Sekhukhune District in the Limpopo region remains the worst performing in matric results. For the past 5 years, matric pass rates have dropped tremendously. But Sboniso Youth Care Centre (SYCC) in Driekop, London Ga-Madiseng village is an educational Youth Development Non-profit organization that aims to change that narrative.

SYCC which was established in 2016, strive to better the youth. Ally Shiburi the Founder and Project Manager of the organization said they offer tutoring and mentoring sessions to high school learners, matric rewrite classes and an opportunity for school dropouts to write matric exams.

“We have an infrastructure with no tables and chairs for our students that force us to implement fees in our activities. We are offering all subject tutorials to the local communities and request them to pay R500.00 registration fee and also  R150 per month for each subject to pay our tutors and volunteers to keep the project alive,” Ally said.

He also added that he believes if they can get sponsorship, their organization will offer free classes to help Grade 12 learners who failed to rewrite or upgrade their grades to obtain matric certificates.

This organization has done superb activities for its community. They also tackle health care activities particularly HIV & AIDS.

SYCC hopes to unite the youth through positive thinking and create a society where every youth in and outside Fetakgomo Tubatse communities are with academic qualifications and equal opportunity industry standard.
