Local lad excels in drawing
OHRIGSTAD
Emmanuel Phaswane (23) possesses a unique talent. He is the master of fine, visual arts and graffiti and believes he is the best drawer Tubatse has ever had.
This man from Kgautšwane said his love of drawing started during his early school days at Dipitsi Primary School.
“I started drawing since my days at primary school, but my love of art increased when I enrolled at Mathafeng Secondary School. I was the school’s hero, excelling in arts competitions,” he said.
He remembered looking at the illustrations on the inside of colouring books and realised, “I could create things myself rather than just colour inside the lines. I also drew portraits of my friend and relatives.”
Speaking to Sekhukhune Times, Emmanuel said he wishes to work for the SAPS as an identikit artist or as a cartoonist for big newspapers in Mzansi
“ I want to use my artistic talent in making South Africa a better country, i can entertain people with my drawings. I can easily sketch people while someone is explaining their features.”
Some of Phaswane’s best drawings are those of businessman and local tycoon Morgan Mohlala, Fetakgomo Tubatse’s mayor Eddie Maila, comedian Rowan Atkinson, music artists and many more celebrities.
Phaswane said some of his future plans is to build and art gallery and collaborate with other local artists.
“I wish we can have a platform in which local youth can display their drawings. We can then teach young pupils to draw and perfect their crafts.”
This talented man excels in mud art, pen, pencil and paint drawings. Locals interested in Phaswane’s drawings and those that can assist him with sponsorship and art equipment can contact him on 071 464 7966.
