FTLM Mayor commends Budget and Treasury Team

BURGERSFORT

The Mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM), Cllr Eddie Maila, has on Friday 29 August 2025 met with Senior Managers and officials from Budget and Treasury to commend them for their excellent work in preparing the Annual Financial Statements (AFS).

In terms of the municipal financial planning cycle, AFS must be submitted to the Auditor General (AG) on or before 31 August each year, ahead of the audit process.

During the meeting, Mayor Maila applauded the Budget and Treasury Team for preparing the Annual Financial Statements internally, marking it the first time the municipality has utilized its own capacity without reliance on external consultants.

The achievement illustrates a significant progress in building internal capacity, which will improve efficiency and strengthen governance.

“The internal preparation of the Annual Financial Statements reflects the commitment, skill, and passion of our officials. It proves that we have the capacity within the Municipality to deliver on our mandate,” he said.

The Mayor encouraged other departments to emulate the example set by Budget and Treasury by reducing dependency on consultants and optimally using internal expertise.

The Mayor expressed appreciation for the dedication of the Budget and Treasury team and received assurance that the Annual Financial Statements will be submitted on time.

He said the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality remains committed to building internal capacity for effective and efficient governance.
