Needy family receives shelter from Good Samaritans
DITWEBELENG
The hardships and shelter struggles by the Bokgobelo family in Ditwebeleng Ward 15, of Fetakgomo Tubatse is a thing of the past.
On June 24, MJM Mining’s management and Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality’s mayor Eddie Maila officially handed the family their newly built house.
The six- roomed house, consists of three bedrooms, a toilet, kitchen and a living room.
Maila joined MJM Mining’s Joel Mohlala in donating the well structured decent house. The family has been living in a dilapidated house which was posing a huge risk on them. There are 4 family members and all are surviving on a disability grant of their son.
After hearing about the plight of the family, Mohlala committed to build a house for the family to provide shelter, security and comfort.
When accepting the house on behalf of government, Maila thanked Mohlala and his associates for providing the family with a beautiful house that will be a refuge for many years to come. He said the new house will restore the dignity and pride to the family including privacy of the elderly.
The mayor encouraged other entrepreneurs to emulate the gesture of Mohlala by assisting government to address socio economic challenges.
” Public-private partnership must become a reality and be seen happening in the local communities,” said Maila.
Mohlala thanked Maila for his commitment to change the lives of the community especially those who are vulnerable like the Bokgobelo family.
“Sharing is indeed caring, when we learnt about the family’s challenges, we then vowed to assist. I am from a family that cares and always gives back to the needy communities. This is not the first family that received a house from MJM Minerals. We previously erected houses to several families in and around Fetakgomo Tubatse,” revealed Mohlala.
Homeowner, Monica Bokgobelo was overwhelmed with emotions and thanked Mohlala for building a house which will be a long lasting legacy to the family.
“We will now sleep comfortably and the children will have their own bedrooms. It was a big challenge, we thank everyone who was involved since the start of the project. As a family we will cherish and take good care of this house.”
