FTLM’s councillor to be remembered as a man who loved his community

The funeral of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM)’s Ward 34 councilor Lennox Thobela took place at Bogalatladi Cemetery on Saturday June 21.
Thobela  passed away on June 11 after a short illness. Speaker after speaker , described Thobela as a dedicated, loving, caring and  sports fanatic.

The funeral was attended by politicians from all corners of Limpopo, as well as FTLM’s employees.


Dignitaries included the likes of FTLM’s mayor Eddie Maila, Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM)’s executive mayor Minah Bahula, Member of National Assembly and chairperson of Home Affairs portfolio committee Musa Chabane, Member of Limpopo Legislature and chairperson of portfolio committee on education Rodgers Monama and many more.


Maila said Thobela was an asset and the servant of the people and many things were still expected from him. He described him as a dedicated community leader who shaped the lives of many people especially youth.


“He led many structures for development in the village and it came as no surprise when he was elected the Ward Councillor in 2019 and also in the 2021 Local government elections. ”
The mayor called upon other councillors to emulate the spirit of Thobela and serve their communities with pride and compassion. He called upon everyone to pray and give comfort to the Thobela family during this difficult period.
Besides being a ward councilor, Thobela served as the chairperson of Infrastructure Development and Technical Services in the FTLM municipality and his leadership was evident in the oversight played over the implementation of infrastructural projects.
He will be remembered for his commitment to development, cooperation with fellow councilors and passion for sports. Bahula delivered an eulogy on behalf of the Limpopo government.
