Water contractors introduced at Ga Malekane and Mampuru villages

The Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) made significant developmental strides in Ga-Malekana and Ga-Mampuru villages on April 16. The two villages are in Fetakgomo Tubatse’s Ward 06 and Ward 27.
These areas, under Kgoši Malekana, and Kgoši Mampuru, are set to benefit from enhanced water supply infrastructure and socio-economic opportunities.
FTLM Mayor, Cllr Eddie Maila expressed his appreciation for the strong turnout of residents and thanked the Executive Mayor, Cllr Minah Bahula, for her continued commitment to improving lives across the district.
“This project is a testament to collaborative leadership and people-centered development,” he said.
Bahula emphasized the dual impact of the initiative: “This project will not only bring sustainable water access but will also create employment and business opportunities for both skilled and unskilled community members, including local SMMEs.”
She further appealed to the community to safeguard the project infrastructure , highlighting that its success depends on community ownership and participation.
“Let us protect this upcoming development, as it is key to securing livelihoods and uplifting the quality of life for all,” she added.
The Water Project will include the construction of a concrete dam reservoir in Ga-Phasha, along with the development of pipeline infrastructure extending to Ga-Mampuru. The entire project is expected to be completed within 18 months.This intervention marks a progressive step towards inclusive development and empowerment in the Sekhukhune District.
