Spitzkop/Marishane – A 36 year-old suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen raw chrome at the Spitzkop Farm within the Burgersfort policing precinct during Vala Umgodi operations conducted on Sunday, 6 April.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, said the arrest was effected after the suspect was found loading the suspected stolen precious minerals onto a yellow dumbbell truck.
Ledwaba indicated that another suspect was nabbed for contravention of the Immigration Act in the area.
Meanwhile, five other suspects aged between 28 and 51 were apprehended for illegal mining of sand that day at Ga-Marishane Village within the Nebo policing area.
“Members of the Vala Umgodi were conducting a disruptive operation in the area when a group of people were noticed loading sand into a white Leyman truck. Police confiscated three shovels and the truck loaded with sand,” explained Ledwaba.
