Four nabbed in Ohrigstad for possession of stolen vehicle
OHRIGSTAD
Four male suspects arrested for possession of a motor vehicle allegedly stolen in Giyani appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on March 24.
The suspects have been remanded in custody until today, March 27, for further profiling.
The suspects, identified as Phetulo Mokgathi (44), Isaac Maponya (61), Simbarashe Jamonoca (38) and Trigers Chamunuku (28), were apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Sunday, March 23, by members of the Ohrigstad SAPS.
The Limpopo SAPS’s spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the operation was launched after information was received regarding a Ford Figo reportedly stolen in the Giyani policing area earlier this month. The swift response led to the successful interception of the vehicle with the four male occupants.
Police investigations, including the profiling of the suspects to determine possible links to other crimes, are ongoing.
The Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the team for their swift action and dedication to combatting crime in the province.
