ANC Sekhukhune hands-over revamped Zulu Congregation Church

DENNILTON

The ANC in Sekhukhune Region, leaded by Sekhukhune Regional Task Team (RTT) Convenor, Minah Bahula and RTT Coordinator Tala Mathope, have on Sunday 19 January 2025, officially handed-over a newly renovated church building at Phucukane Village in Dennilton, Elias Motsoaledi Sub-Region.

The church was in a dilapidating condition after it was gutted by mysterious fire a few years ago, which led to the ANC in Sekhukhune opting for intervention to its renovations.

The hand-over was joined by Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), leadership from the sub-regions, youth and women’s leagues, alliance partners, ANC volunteers as well as pastors from other churches.

The party handed-over a well-constructed church building with ceiling, well painted relevant church colours, office space, and flushing toilets for both males and females.

Delivering a keynote address, Bahula highlighted the importance of the church renovation programme, stating that it has changed lives, touched souls, changed situations and also played a huge role in repositioning the ANC.

ANC visited the church a few months ago and discovered that the building was burned. The congregation was renting a tent and chairs every Sunday to conduct their church services. The party donated 200 chairs and promised to renovate the burned building.

“We came here last year and discovered that everything which was in the church was burned from the roof to the seats. The congregation was in a hired tent and we donated 200 chairs to cut the costs for hiring the chairs,” she said.

Bahula added that during their last year visit, the party also realised that the community around do not have access to water, she then acted in her capacity as the Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) to drill a borehole so that people can get water.

“The project was delivered and today we have taps with running water and our community is benefiting. We did this because ANC has solution for every problem our people are facing. It wasn’t going to be right for us to come here and find the church burned and go back leaving the situation like that as if we haven’t seen anything,” said Bahula.

Mathope pleaded with church leadership and the congregation to allow the community to use the church premises when they need to.

“When you allow them, they have a responsibility to use it accordingly. As God has blessed you with this beautiful building, yours is to take good care of it as your property. Continue praying for us so that we can go on helping other churches and may God almighty be with you all,” said Mathope
