RAL fires CEO
LIMPOPO(POLOKWANE) – Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, has welcomed the axing of the Roads Agency Limpopo Chief Executive Officer, Gabriel Maluleke.
MEC Racheone was on 21 November briefed by RAL’s Accounting Authority, Moses Tseli, about the entity’s decision to fire Maluleke with immediate effect following a disciplinary hearing which found him guilty.
Maluleke’s axing follows his suspension on 30 August this year after he was preferred with charges related to dishonesty, financial misconduct, negligence and the contravention of certain sections of the PFMA among others.
His disciplinary hearing was held on 20 November where its chairperson found Maluleke guilty on all charges.
Rachoene received the decision, highlighting that consequence management is one of the positive steps towards fixing the agency which overcommitted R1.3 billion on projects.
He stated, “We have committed to the people of Limpopo that the government of the seventh administration will deliver services to improve the economy and the lives of our people. I therefore support all efforts towards focusing on the mandate that the people gave us and not distractions from anyone who seeks to derail the goal of government.”
The agency indicated that it is pursuing other interventions towards rebuilding the organization and this includes conducting investigations of alleged maladministration activities.
