Hikers donated to fire victims
BOTHASHOEK
The Mphahlane Hiking Club responded to the call for donations for the Bothashoek B1 fire victims who lost everything last week. The Malepe family’s five roomed house burnt to ashes during the night of November 5. Family members suspected the fire was caused by a candle.
The five family members lost all their belongings during the devastating fire. This included school uniforms, cellphones, identity documents, furniture and groceries.
On November 11, Mphahlane Hiking Club members from Matibidi visited the family to console them.
“After hearing of the family’s challenges we decided to lend a helping hand, we bought groceries, clothing blankets, pots and pans for the needy family, ”said club member Christinah Boshego.
She urged local community members and business people to assist this family.“ They still lack other needs, if possible we urge locals to assist them in rebuilding their burnt home,” she added.
The Malepe family said their kids were forced to attend classes without uniforms after their belongings caught fire. They were thankful to the Good Samaritans for handing them the much needed donations.
According to Boshego, the recent donations are not their first. On July 27, the club handed groceries and clothing to the orphans at Riba Cross in Tubatse.
