Man nabbed for fatal stabbing of his girlfriend

KUTUPU – The South African Police Service (SAPS) detectives in Hlogotlou nabbed a 27 year-old man following a fatal stabbing of a 22 year-old woman on Thursday, 15 August morning at Kutupu Village.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, informed that officers were alerted about the incident and further directed to a local hospital where the victim was admitted.

Ledwaba indicated that upon their arrival, the police found the deceased with stab wounds and already certified dead.

“Following an investigation, the suspect was arrested during an operation conducted at Kutupu and Mabintane villages within the Hlogotlou policing area. The weapon used to commit the murder was recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and the suspect were in a relationship. The motive behind the incident is currently not established, however, domestic violence cannot be ruled out. The ongoing police investigations will reveal,” explained Ledwaba.

The accused, Tshepo Sekele, made his first appearance in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on 19 August facing charges of murder and possession of a dangerous weapon – knife. His case was remanded to 26 August for formal bail application.
