Koko Mampana honoured during her 106th Birthday Celebration
Eenkantaan
The African National Congress (ANC) in Sekhukhune Region, led by the party’s regional secretary, Tala Mathope, celebrated the 106th birthday celebration of Koko Annah Mokgobeng Mampana at Eenkantaan Village in Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM).
The granny marked 106 years milestone on Saturday 3 August 2024 surrounded by her family and fellow church members.
Seated with a large cake in front of her, Koko Mampana was all smiles as the family, church members, ANC members and community showered her with best wishes.
Mathope said during the birthday celebration that they are happy to celebrate with the granny while she is still alive.
“It is very rare to find someone at your age and when we find one, we must cherish the person hence you see us here today. To the community and family, you are very lucky to have a granny of this age because she is a living library. She knows the history of this village and therefore she will be able to transfer the knowledge on some of the most important things. Continue taking care of her and we wish God can also bless some of us to live to her age,” said Mathope.
During the celebration the regional secretary proceeded with a political lecture with the community and ANC supporters and members.
“Comrades, we must at all times remind ourselves why we are in the ANC and what our role in our branches is. A branch of the ANC must be civic oriented. We have social responsibilities to perform day to day in our communities. We get to see some branches being active only when we are going to a conference or during BGMs. The same energy you apply when going to conferences must be the one you use on the branch to run programmes to keep the ANC active,” Mathope said.
Meanwhile the party in the region has recently donated 100 chairs to the Mampana Lutheran Church in Eenkantaan Village.
The donation was leaded by ANC Regional Executive Committee (REC) member Judy Mphelane, who was joined by ANC Youth League National Executive Committee (NEC) member Itumeleng Magane, ANC Youth League Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) member Faith Sebopela, Ephraim Mogale Sub-Regional Secretary Mazda Matlou, ANC Youth League RTT Coordinator Kanana Leokana, MLM Ward 31 branch members and members of nearby branches.
Before the donation hand-over, the ANC joined the congregation to pray and worship with the congregants.
The party later donated 100 chairs to the church so that they can accommodate more people without any crisis.
“This is a gesture of appreciation and support to the church so that you can continue praying for us and continue teaching our people to understand the word of God”, said Mphelane during the handing-over of the chairs. The church appreciated the donation and vowed to keep on praying for the communities.
