Gospel artist Abicky nominated for INGOMA
MASAKANENG – Local gospel music artist, Abicky Kgolane, has been nominated for the Old Mutual 11th Independent National Gospel Music Awards (INGOMA).
The winners of the competition are scheduled to be announced on 14 September at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in Polokwane.
The recording artist and song writer, who originates from Mamone Village and resides in Masakaneng outside Groblersdal, has been nominated for the Best Gospel Single with his latest song, “Ha ole teng”, which was released last year in November.
Abicky started music at the age of 12 at the Catholic Church and tap-and-clap choir called Baitapishi Ba Morena GC in Mamone before he became a backing singer for gospel artist, Solly Matseba.
In 2021, he released his debut album titled, “Mphe Matla” which gained popularity at various local radio stations and television gospel shows.
“I am so excited and feeling honoured just by being counted and recognized amongst the South African gospel giants,” smiled Abicky.
The achievement follows his hard work in the gospel music industry over the years, performing on local and national stages.
He is on a tour to the length and breadth of Sekhukhuneland on which is pleading for support of the public through their votes to bring the INGOMA home.
