Makhuduthamaga Youth Fund online applications taken to communities

MAKHUDTHAMAGA – Over 500 young people within Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) clusters benefitted from the municipality and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA)’s initiative to assistant them with online applications to get funding from the Makhuduthamaga Youth Fund (MYF) to start or boost existing business last week.

The municipality and the agency stopped at several clusters, sharing information on the MYF application process, qualifying requirements, and how to access the NYDA’s portal and launch applications for the funding online.

Some of the young entrepreneurs were also assisted with business registrations through officials from the Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Jane Furse office.

The roadshow follows the launch of the MYF in Mogowarane Village, Boiketlong Lodge recently. Thomas Mashabela, MLM Acting Communications Manager, said the municipality and NYDA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the fund and contribute R2 million towards it.

MLM Mayor, Merah Mahlase, applauded young people for showing interest through their participation in the roadshow programme.

Mahlase encouraged all young traders and farmers without formal or registered businesses to visit the municipal Youth Office to seek assistance on how to register their business operations, describing the programme as one-of-a-kind opportunity which should be used by the youth.
