16 team league brings hope to soccer loving communities

Boredom is a thing of the past for soccer lovers residing in Penge and neighbouring areas. A new league was recently launched and is attracting soccer fanatics, scouts and business people.
Mokgotho Super League games attract youths from Tubatse each and every week.
This league consists of 16 teams from Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s Ward 16 , the teams compete for a trophy, medals and the bragging rights of being the best in Tubatse.
Every week buses ferry villagers for games. The games are hosted only on weekends at venues confirmed by the League Organising Committee. These games also boost the local economy with hawkers benefiting by selling fast foods and soft drinks during the matches,
“Our teams have so far participated in 11 games each. We rotate the venues for our matches. In the past, we organized the games at Mokgotho, Maretlwaneng, Mamogolo and Ga league chairperson Freeman Shai.
This publication witnessed four matches that were held at Ga Motshana on Saturday. Young Boys defeated Penge United 2-3, Mankele FC beat Danger Killers 2-1, Lefahla were victorious 2-3 against Mountain FC, while hosts Gordons thrashed Ditlou 4-1.
Gordons’s win sees them climb to the summit of the log, they have accumulated 25 points in 11 matches.
“Our wish is to improve sports in our area. This league keeps our youth busy during the weekends. The crowd is massive and future stars will emerge from the league. We want these boys to play in the elite league in future, with the support we give them, the future will be much brighter and they will don the national colours ” added Shai,
