Limpopo – Vakhegula Vakhegula FC, commonly known as soccer grannies, will be heading to Mauritius to play with other grannies during their football tour in the island.

The Vakhegula’s Mauritius Tour is scheduled to take place from Thursday 25 April to Monday 29th April 2024, where the oldies’ football team will be exchanging experiences with their counterparts in the island to promote a healthy lifestyle among elderly people.

Vakhegula Vakhegula stands as a beacon of sporting inspiration within Limpopo, fostering an active lifestyle among the elderly and embodying the unique spirit of the province.

Limpopo Sports Confederation’s (LSC) Secretary-General, Puleng Mmotla, has confirmed the confederation deployed its President, Malesela Ally Pole, as the provincial sporting sector representative during the Vakhegula-Vakhegula Mauritius Tour.

“The leadership collective of the LSC has unanimously agreed to appoint President Pole as the representative of the sport sector during the Vakhegula-Vakhegula Mauritius Tour, scheduled from Thursday, 25th April to Monday, 29th April 2024,” he said.

Mmotla indicated that the Vakhegula Vakhegula Mauritius Tour has witnessed a remarkable growth and has become synonymous with Limpopo’s identity, representing not only the sporting prowess, but also the values of inclusivity and community engagement.

Mmotla added that the upcoming tour holds significant importance as it serves as a pivotal milestone leading up to the Grannies International Football Tournament, a prestigious event that garners global attention.

“As representatives of Limpopo and South Africa, the confederation’s participation in this tournament is a matter of great pride, and the role played in this regard is crucial in ensuring that our grannies and other stakeholders uphold the honour of our region on the international stage,” explained Mmotla.

He said the confederation has expressed its utmost confidence on President Pole’s abilities to represent Limpopo’s sport sector with distinction and grace.

“His dedication and commitment to promoting sports excellence align perfectly with the values that Limpopo Sports Confederation stands for,” added Mmotla.
