Premier Mathabatha hands over additional laptops to Mafato Primary School
MOTETEMA – Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha delivered 17 additional laptops to Mafato Community Primary School in Motetema Township on Tuesday, 16 April.
The donation to the school within Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality is part of Premier Mathabatha’s ongoing commitment to support the institution and bridge the gap between illiteracy and competency.
On his birthday in January this year, Mathabatha pledged to assist Mafato Community Primary School in preparing learners for the fourth industrial revolution. Since then, he has delivered on his promise through provision of air conditioners, a solar power system, carports and a total of 27 laptops, with the Tuesday’s addition of 17 more.
Mafato Community Primary School Principal, Stephina Pheeha expressed her gratitude, stating that with the computers available, there would not be an understandable reason why their learners would not succeed since they have resources to assist them.
“We want to thank you Premier Mathabatha for all that you have done for our school,” said Pheeha. One of the learners at the school, Thapelo Nkoagatse expressed his excitement, “The laptops brought by Premier Mathabatha would change our lives for the better. We are thankful that the premier honoured his word when he promised them all these things in January.”
Mathabatha reiterated that his support for Mafato Primary School is not charity but a personal commitment, being an alumnus of the school himself.
He further announced plans to construct additional classrooms and provide more laptops to further enhance the learning environment.
Mathabatha further said that his visit to the school was to assess progress made in some of the commitment he made and was pleased that both the air conditioning and solar power system he donated were working.
