Dennilton

The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Nkakareng Rakgoale, has on Wednesday 3 April conducted an oversight visit at the ongoing roads projects at Dennilton in Moutse, Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM).

MEC Rakgoale personally oversaw the rehabilitation progress of Road D856 and Road D2913 in the Moutse area with an objective to assess ongoing road rehabilitation efforts and ensure effective service delivery to residents.

She was accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Cllr Minah Bahula, MMC for Infrastructure and Water Services, Cllr Mabatane Mathale, as well as the Mayor of EMLM, Cllr Magetle David Tladi, EMLM Council Speaker Cllr Mashego Dieketseng, SDM council Chief Whip Cllr Choris Phokane, SDM Council Speaker Cllr David Kgwediyebotse Chego and other municipalities’ officials.

Additionally, the team conducted a thorough assessment of the pothole patching programme along the crucial R25 main road leading to Mpumalanga and Gauteng Provinces. The R25 Road has been an outcry to Dennilton residents and passing motorists due to its poor state, which resulted in loss of lives as a result of fatal accidents.

Expressing her commitment to improving road infrastructure in the province, MEC Rakgoale emphasized that the department, in collaboration with Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), is resolute in its mission to enhance road conditions for all motorists.

“We are determined to make our roads drivable and ensure safe passage for our communities,” she stated.

Echoing the sentiments of MEC Rakgoale, the Acting SDM Executive Mayor, MMC Mathale, commended the department’s proactive intervention and monitoring programme. He acknowledged the significance of the updates provided during the session and the clear timelines established to expedite the rehabilitation of identified roads infrastructure.

He said the collaborative efforts between the government and local authorities emphasises a unified commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development and enhancing the quality of life for residents in the Sekhukhune District.
