ANC Sekhukhune hands-over refurbished church at Ga-Rakgalakane
Ga-Rakgalakane – As part of an ongoing programme of supporting local churches, the ANC in Sekhukhune Region, has on Sunday 3 March, handed-over an upgraded church Apostol Church at Ga-Rakgalakane Village in Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM) Ward 15.
The church building was in a dilapidating state posing serious hazards with cracked walls and worrying outlook of the structure.
To ensure safety of congregants, ANC Sekhukhune Regional Secretary, Tala Mathope, identified the church as one of the party’s beneficiaries and committed to intervene in renovating the structure to a better condition.
Mathope immediately started with a process of mobilising resources from donors to deliver his commitment which was followed by the official hand-over.
During the hand-over, Mathope said he deliberately decided to renovate the church because Apostolic churches are underrated in society, as they are often associated with dust during church proceedings when congregants’ dances in worshipping songs.
“We have completed this church without any electioneering campaign motives, however, there is one favour which I think we can appreciate in replicating our efforts. The church must pray for the return of teenage boys in churches including this one. The future of this church remains towards the grooming of a boy child,” he said.
The hand-over event coincided with Mathope’s birthdate where later he was showered with a big cake and gifts from the Mayor of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM), Cllr Merah Mahlase on behalf of ANC members.
“I further appreciate the birthday wishes and presents given to me by the Mayor of Makhuduthamaga on behalf of my fellow comrades, it is indeed a great and memorable moment and from the bottom of my heart I appreciate,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the church, Bishop Masimula applauded the good gesture delivered by the ANC and indicated that the church is not just a building, but also a spiritual healing hospital.
The occasion was also graced by the presence of Kgoshi Motshana, Regional Executive Committee (REC) members, South African National Civic Organization (SANCO), ANC Women’s League and ANC Youth League.
