Pensioners benefit from Executive Mayor Bahula’s blankets drive

GA-MPHANAMA – Over a thousand pensioners within the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality at Ga-Mphanama Village and the surrounding areas such as Magagamatala, Mogorogoro, Seleteng, Mmuane, Matamong, Malaeneng, Sepakapakeng, Mototolwaneng and Matebane benefited from Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula’s blankets donation drive on 5 January 2024.

According to SDM, Executive Mayor Bahula has undertaken the blanket initiative to provide comfort and relief to the elderly members of the community.

In recognition of the invaluable role that older persons play in the society, Bahula made a commitment to ensure their wellbeing.

Bahula indicated that the elderly occupy a special space in communities and that it is a duty of all to care for them. She said through the blankets donation, they not only aim to provide physical warmth but also a sense of appreciation for their significant contributions to society.

Lemson Moropyane, SDM head of communications, stated that the blanket drive is an integral component of the executive mayor’s special initiatives, with focus on community welfare and engagement.

“This program aligns with her vision to create positive impacts and bring relief to communities within Sekhukhune District,” explained Moropyane.

Bahula stressed that they believe in fostering a sense of unity and compassion within communities. “The blanket drive is just one way we can extend a helping hand to those who have paved the way for us,” emphasized Bahula.

Moropyane highlighted that the municipality, through the executive mayor, encourages residents, businesses and community members to support this noble effort by contributing to the blankets’ availability, as this will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the elderly.

Bahula was accompanied by her counterparts, Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality Mayor, Eddie Maila, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Mayor, Merah Mahlase, Former Executive Mayor Julia Mathebe and several councilors together with the business community.
