World AIDS Day commemoration receives massive community participation at Hallelujah Clinic

GROBLERSDAL – In a move to heighten awareness on HIV/AIDS, the Hallelujah Clinic at the Schoonbee Landgoed Farm within the Groblersdal area observed the World AIDS Day recently.

Sister Filda Mokobake said they use the commemoration to educate farm workers in the area on HIV/AIDS with the aim to level an offensive against the pandemic.

Mokobake appreciated the participation of the workers in the event as they showed up in their numbers to witness the teachings.

“We had a massive participation and we are really satisfied that the message is reaching out to many people. We used the event to also distribute condoms and people showed interest and they collected the condoms to indicate that they understand how the HIV/AIDS can be defeated,” highlighted Mokobake.

She also thank Nedbank Groblersdal for supporting them and ensuring that the day becomes a success, and that many people are aware about issues around HIV/AIDS.

“We are indeed blessed that every year we organize the event, people attend in their numbers and that is a good sign,” stated Mokobake.

Mokabane appreciated that following the event, the Hallelujah Clinic has had many community members coming forward to take their HIV/AIDS tests.

“This is evident that through these programmes, we can make real change in the society and people pay more attention when we directly interact with them,” concluded Mokobake.
