Nadi Drop-in-centre officially launched
MOTETEMA – The Nadi Drop-in-Centre in Motetema Township outside Groblersdal hosted the facility’s official launch event last Thursday, 2 November.
The project, which operates within the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, was registered with the Department of Social Services in 2017 as a Non-Profit Organisation and commenced operation in 2018 caring for the needy and vulnerable in the locality.
It aims to assist orphans and vulnerable people through programmes such as provision of food on a daily basis, help with clothes, school work, donate school uniform, run health talks, psychological-social support as well as sports and cultural activities.
Emily Mpanyane, founder and manager, informed that they currently have an enrollment figure of 95 needy and vulnerable people in their care.
Mpanyane said they saw it fit to officially launch the centre on Thursday after six years of its operation. “We would like to thank the community for supporting us ever since we started with our programmes. We would also like to thank both the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality and the Sekhukhune District Municipality for offering us help when we need them. Furthermore, we thank the staff members here at the centre for the hard work they put in to ensure the success of the centre,” said Mpanyane.
She vowed that despite the challenges they face such as lack of ablution facilities and electricity, the centre remains prepared to make a difference in the lives of people who need help.
