Minister Ramokgopa visits Fetakgomo Tubatse SEZ

The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, undertook a strategic visit to the Fetakgomo Tubatse Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Steelpoort on July 28.
The Minister was accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Manyaku Maria Thulare of the Bapedi Nation, Members of the Limpopo Executive Council (MECs), led by Dr. Tshitereke Matibe, MEC for Limpopo Economic Development Environment and Tourism (Ledet), and Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor Eddie Maila.
The visit marked the unveiling of government’s plan to establish an energy park at the Fetakgomo Tubatse SEZ to support the growing electricity demand of the mining sector and mineral processing facilities.
Ramokgopa said the initiative is designed to co-locate electricity generation with major industrial loads, produce clean, green electrons, and strengthen South Africa’s industrial capability and competitiveness.
The delegation received a comprehensive presentation from the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Fetakgomo Tubatse SEZ, Solly Kgopong, following the recent designation of Fetakgomo Tubatse as a Special Economic Zone
Kgophong stated that Fetakgomo Tubatse SEZ is expected to attract significant local and international investment, stimulate industrialisation, strengthen infrastructure development, and unlock new economic opportunities for Fetakgomo Tubatse, the Sekhukhune District and the Limpopo Province.
The development is also expected to create sustainable employment opportunities, promote skills development and expand opportunities for local small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) to participate in the regional economy.
