FTLM to electrify 890 households at Ga- Mongatane and Strydkraal

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) in Burgersfort introduced contractors tasked with the electrification of two villages in the municipality. On November 18, the acting mayor Halinda Mojalefa, on behalf of mayor Eddie Maila introduced a contractor to electrify 475 homes in Ga-Mongatane (Ward 10).
On November 20, Mojalefa and her team visited Strydkraal where they also introduced another contractor who will electrify 415 homes, the village falls under Ward 36 of the FTLM.
The two projects forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to reduce the electrification backlog within its area of jurisdiction. The two projects will connect a total of 890 households and will be implemented over a period of four months.
At both villages, Mojalefa was welcomed by the traditional leaders who applauded the municipality for bringing much-needed relief to households that have lived without electricity for years.
Welcoming the municipal delegation at Ga-Mongatane, Kgoshi Mohlabane Mashabela expressed deep appreciation for the municipality’s commitment to service delivery.
“We welcome this project with full appreciation, because our community has been waiting for it for a long time. Electricity is not just a service; it is a basic need that will uplift our households and improve the daily lives of our people.”
He further assured the community and the municipality of the traditional authority’s full support.
“As the traditional authority, we commit ourselves to safeguarding this project until its completion. This development belongs to the community, and we will not allow anyone to disrupt or delay its implementation.”
The traditional leaders said the projects would not only improve the quality of life for residents but would also create employment and local business opportunities, contributing to the fight against poverty, unemployment and social inequality.
Mojalefa said the electrification projects brings real and immediate change to the people of Ga-Mongatane and Strydkraal. “For many years, our communities have been calling for this service, and we are proud to respond with action. Electricity will help reduce crime, support learners to study safely at home, and improve the overall dignity of our households.”
She further reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to accelerating development across all villages.
