MLM to offer bursaries to hardworking matric pupils

JANE FURSE

The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) wants to see local pupils excel in their studies. This municipality  is once again calling on prospective students who will be enrolled with higher education institutions during the 2026 academic year and who reside in its jurisdiction to apply for bursary funding.

The Municipal Council has increased the bursary budget to more than R4.8 million for the financial year 2025-2026. Over R2 million is available for financial assistance to new intakes for the 2026 academic year.  The MLM is currently providing financial assistance to 24 students pursuing their studies at various universities around the country.

The bursary covers 100% of the following study expenses: Registration fees, tuition fees, study materials, accommodation and meals.

Prospective students and stakeholders can obtain application forms from the following municipal service locations: Municipal Head Office, Jane Furse Library, Eensaam Library, Phokwane Library, Ga-Phaahla Library, education circuit offices within Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, and the municipal website.

Makhuduthamaga Mayor Councillor Merah Mahlase is making an appeal to all councillors and ward committee members to collaborate with school principals to ensure that learners and young people who have completed their matric have access to bursary application forms as well as necessary information and support.
