MEC for Limpopo Department of Education (LDoE), Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, addressed the department’s priorities to senior managers from the five districts in the province, during a 3-day strategic planning session, held at Zebula Golf Estate outside Polokwane.

The session aimed to review progress, set clear priorities, and align programmes with the strategies of the 7th administration in the province.

The main plenary will resume on Friday 12 September 2025, where key decisions and priorities were finalized.

The department’s strategic planning session focused on key areas, including strengthening infrastructure by improving the condition of schools and educational facilities, improving learner academic performance through developing strategies to enhance academic achievement and outcomes and development of educators by providing training and support for teachers to improve their skills and effectiveness.

The strategic session also discussed issues related to safety, inclusive, and quality learning environments, ensuring that schools provide a safe and supportive environment for all learners and staff members.

In her address, MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya directed senior managers to develop strategies that will maintain the upward trajectory of academic improvement and improved audit outcomes.

“Education is a societal matter,” she emphasized, highlighting the importance of collaboration and collective effort in achieving the department’s goals.

Lerule-Ramakhanya remarked that the department’s strategic planning session is a crucial step towards ensuring that the education sector contributes to the province’s growth and development.

“Education is a precondition for development. The Limpopo Department of Education is committed to providing quality education and improving the lives of learners across the province,” she said.
