Justice Molapo (45) has appeared in the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court following his arrest during an operation conducted by the Sekhukhune Tracking Team in collaboration with precinct detectives.
The intelligence-driven operation was conducted between 06:00 on Thursday, September 4 and 09:30 the following day in the Tukakgomo Village, within the Burgersfort policing area.
“During the operation, the police recovered a Nissan NP200 bakkie that was reported stolen in eMalahleni in July. A further search of a nearby residence led to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and a small box containing several rounds of ammunition,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
The suspect first appeared in court on Monday, September 8, facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of ammunition. He was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to September 17 for a formal bail application. Ledwaba said police investigations are ongoing and the Molapo may possibly be linked to other cases.
