ANC convincingly wins Ward 24 by-elections
BOGALATLADI
The ANC was totally dominant in the by-elections held at Bogalatladi in the Fetakgomo Tubatse municipality in Sekhukhune, Limpopo on 3 September. The ward vacancy, previously represented by the ANC occurred due to the death of the ward councilor, Lennox Thobela, in June.
The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 78.67% of the total votes cast, compared to 75.60% in the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 49.66%.
They were contesting against the EFF (15.24%), the Bolsheviks Party of South Africa (0.78%), the Defenders of the People (4.38%) and the South African Communist Party (0.93%).
The African National Congress celebrated the win highlighting how communities in Ward 34 of the Fetakgomo Tubatse Sub-Region chose the ANC as their dependable partner for progress, amid a broader narrative of transformation and service delivery.
“The people of Ward 34 have made their choice crystal clear that they place their faith and trust in the ANC. The ANC will never take support of our people for granted and will strive to service the community of Ward 34. For a good working relationship and progress, the community must support the new ward councillor and he must also seek guidance where necessary,” the party stated in a press release.
Mahlatse Mathipa was declared as the new Ward 34 councilor.
