Tubatse’s dedicated cop retires after long service at SAPS

From an early age, Colonel Kgadiswana Samuel Mnisi displayed natural leadership and discipline. He has dedicated over three decades to protecting South African communities, fighting organized crime, and upholding the rule of law. Today, he is retiring.
While in high school at Matshaile High School, his teachers affectionately nicknamed him “Sersant” due to his no-nonsense approach to classroom behavior and his ability to maintain order among his peers.
Mnisi was born and raised in Kgautswane, Ohrigstad, before relocating to Tubatse, Praktiseer, in Burgersfort. His journey in law enforcement has been marked by integrity, discipline, and unwavering dedication to justice.
After matriculating, he immediately pursued a career in policing and was accepted into the South African Police Service (SAPS) in 1987. He underwent six months of training at Hammanskraal SAPS Academy and was then placed at Gilead as a Constable on relief duties.
In 1993, he was promoted to a Sergeant at Polokwane, where he handled taxi violence-related cases, including hit squad killings in the taxi industry. In 1998, he advanced to Warrant Officer in the Mopani Serious Violent Crime Unit later served at Polokwane Organized Crime Investigation Unit.
His focus was on investigating high-priority crimes, including cash-in-transit robberies and ATM bombings.
One of the cases he handled involved four serial killers terrorizing the community in Calcutta, in Mpumalanga Province. Under his leadership, all suspects were arrested and later sentenced to life imprisonment.
He was involved in combating serious incidents within the taxi industry in Limpopo Province that could have led to loss of lives and damage to property, which was averted through engagement with the relevant stakeholders, including the involved taxi associations.
This dedicated cop holds a National Diploma in Policing from Technikon South Africa (1998). He also completed numerous SAPS training programs, including: Anti-Corruption for Practitioners Detective, Commander Learning Program Serious and Violent Crimes, Money Laundering Investigations, Analyst Notebook Course, Basic Surveillance Course.
In September 2004, he received the Best Investigator Award from Mopani District in Giyani, recognizing his excellence in detective work.
Colonel Mnisi is widely respected for his uncompromising ethics, especially in the face of corruption.
He encourages all SAPS members to: “Refrain from corruption. Have passion for their job.” Learn to be patient. Rome wasn’t built in one day. Perform your work diligently. Promotions will come at the right time,” he stated.
A highly disciplined officer and a committed public servant. His greatest inspiration has been his mother. His mother’s resilience and unwavering support continue to drive his dedication and commitment.
His message to the youth is to believe in their worth, pursue continuous growth, and embrace leadership opportunities. He emphasizes that showing up with purpose and striving for excellence can inspire others and influence change”
In bidding farewell to the hard working officer , the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the Colonel “s retirement with mixed feelings .
