SEZs position Limpopo well at IIICF

LIMPOPO – The Fetakgomo-Tubatse and Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zones gave Limpopo an opportunity to position itself as a key investment destination in South Africa during the 116th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) and Exhibition.

Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba attended the forum which was held in Macao, China, between 8 and 15 June.

The SEZs, strategically located and rich in mineral and agricultural resources, present opportunities for infrastructure development, beneficiation and sustainable industrialisation.

Ndavhe Ramakuela, Provincial Government Spokesperson, said the premier expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the forum and was encouraged by the level of interest in Limpopo’s development agenda.

The IIICF, a globally recognised platform to promote international cooperation in infrastructure development, improve cross-boader investment and showcase latest innovation and technologies in construction and infrastructure sectors, enjoyed participation of senior government officials, business leaders, development financiers and global investors from over 70 countries this year.

Ramathuba stated that attending the IIICF has been a significant milestone for Limpopo, highlighting the meaningful engagements with global investors, who have shown great interest in the province’s infrastructure and tourism potential.

She indicated that the province’s SEZs are catalytic projects, adding that the partnerships formed in Macao will accelerate economic growth and create sustainable jobs for the people of Limpopo.

“We have left China energised and hopeful for the future. This is just the beginning of a new wave of investment into Limpopo,” said Ramathuba.

Limpopo MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Tshitereke Matibe, Public Works Roads and Infrastructure MEC, Ernest Rachoene and Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality Mayor, Eddie Maila formed part of the delegation that accompanied the premier.
