Communities satisfied on completion of Magakala Road and Access Bridge Project
MAGAKALA
In a move to improve access and mobility in rural areas. The Mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) Cllr Eddie Maila visited the Magakala access road to inspect the condition of the road before it can be handed over to the community.
At the site, the acting Director of Infrastructure Development and Technical Services Mr Rant Dikgale gave a detailed report on the construction of the projects and the current developments.
Maila gave accolades to the community of Ward 39 for working together with the municipality and the contractors to ensure that the projects are implemented without major hinderances. The municipality was able to address the challenges that were identified and this must be the approach to resolve matters.
Before the construction of the road, it was difficult for the community to access other areas due to harsh conditions of the gravel road. School children and educators were unable to access schools during rainy season as there was no bridge to cross over.
The mayor and his team took a walkabout on the 4 kilometres stretch of the road to assess its condition. The completed road will bring much relief to the community of Magakala in terms of safer roads and accessibility.
Ms Nthabi Tladi one of the community members thanked the Maila and the municipality for implementing the road project in the village as it was difficult for the community to conduct their daily business, the road is going to change their lives for ever.
After visiting the Magakala access road, Maila conducted an inspection on Debeila-Mohlaletsi road. The inspection was done to give the mayor an insight on the challenges raised by the community and other stakeholders on the development of the road project.Maila indicated that the completion of the road project is long overdue and all the remaining issues must be addressed and the project be handed over to the community.
During the visits, Maila was accompanied by Head of Infrastructure Development and Technical Services Cllr Halinda Mojalefa, Head of Corporate and Shared Services Cllr Maria Mashego, Head of Community Services Cllr Elsie Mokome, Ward 39 Cllr Tlape and Ward 36 Cllr Matheba.
