Sekhukhune municipalities present audit outcomes from previous financial year
SEKHUKHUNE – A delegation of local mayors and administrative leadership, led by Executive Mayor Minah Bahula, presented a consolidated report on audit outcomes for the previous financial year at the provincial Municipal Executive Council (MUNMEC) meeting held at the Ranch Hotel outside Polokwane recently.
Lemson Moropjane, SDM spokesperson, indicated that the report reflected findings from the Auditor General.
Moropjane said SDM’s Cooperate Services Director, Danger Madumane, was tasked with the presentation of the report on behalf of all municipalities within Sekhukhune district.
He stated that the session, co-chaired by Limpopo MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Basikopo Makamu and MEC for Provincial Treasury, Thabo Mahoai, served as a critical platform for interactive engagement on governance and financial management across the province’s municipalities.
“The constitution mandates provincial support to local government to enhance service delivery,” highlighted Moropjane.
He further said that in addition to the audit reviews, the meeting included key updates from the Municipal Demarcation Board on Ward Delimitation and briefing from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on the state of readiness for the upcoming local government elections.
Executive Mayor Bahula acknowledged the pivotal role that the Audit and Performance Committees within municipalities play and complimented their efforts in fulfilling oversight responsibilities in line with council mandates.
