Fleet and technologically advanced system to bolster medical emergency services
POLOKWANE – Limpopo MEC for Health, Dieketseng Mashego, handed over Medical Emergency Services fleet including 36 Planned Patient Transport, two Renal Patient and 10 Rescue vehicles alongside the launch of the of the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system in Ladanna on May 27.
MEC Mashego described the launch of the system and he delivery of the vehicles as a bold step forward taken in strengthening emergency medical services in the province.
Mashego highlighted that healthcare is not about buildings and doctors but also about systems, technology, logistics and rapid response.
“Without these, we cannot save lives. The CAD system is a leap towards modernization and efficiency. This advanced system will enable real-time tracking, intelligent dispatching, faster emergency response and improved coordination between ambulances, call centres and hospitals. It means when someone calls for help, we don’t guess. We act with precision, speed and purpose,” explained Mashego.
She indicated that the 36 Planned Patient Transport vehicles would serve people attending clinics and hospitals for chronic care, outpatient and follow ups.
Mashego said the two Renal Patient vehicles are dedicated to the safe and reliable transport of dialysis patients who need ongoing life-sustaining care.
She added that the 10 fully-equipped Rescue vehicles will form the backbone of trauma and emergency response fleet across the province.
Mashego thanked the department’s partners, health professionals and support staff who keep the health system running every day, often under very challenging conditions.
