Limpopo and Mpumalanga Tourism Agencies sign historic partnership

The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support tourism growth through joint initiatives in investment, safety, and regional development.

This landmark agreement was signed recently at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 in Durban, a premier tourism event that brings together industry stakeholders to promote African tourism.

The partnership aims to market the two provinces as a single tourism destination, leveraging their shared border and iconic Kruger National Park, set to work together to enhance the overall tourist experience, encourage longer stays, and attract more visitors.

The MoU is expected to promote Limpopo and Mpumalanga as a single entity, highlighting their unique attractions and experiences, which will also foster economic development and job creation through collaborative tourism initiatives.

Through the agreement, the initiative will showcase the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of both provinces.

The partnership is also expected to have numerous benefits for both provinces, including, to attract more visitors and increase tourism revenue, shared infrastructure, such as regional airports, can support tourism growth, the support of small product owners and Small, Medium and Macro Enterprises (SMMEs) in both provinces, promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth.

The LTA and MTPA are confident that this partnership will drive growth and development in the tourism industry, benefiting both provinces and contributing to the national economy.

By leveraging their shared assets and strengths, the provinces are expecting to unlock greater value across the sector and promote South Africa as a premier tourism destination.

This historic partnership marks a significant step forward in promoting tourism development in Mpumalanga and Limpopo and is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism industry in both provinces.
