Fetakgomo-Tubatse convenes a successful ward committee conference

BURGERSFORT – Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality wrapped up a successful three-day Ward Committee Conference in Bela Bela on Friday, 16 May.

Mahlako Komane, FTLM spokesperson, said the conference focused on the challenges faced by ward committees in the execution of their tasks.

Komane indicated that the gathering also reflected on the successes recorded by the committees in collaboration with ward councillors.

“The conference was divided into various commissions that presented their recommendations for consideration,” explained Komane.

Closing the conference, Council Speaker, Makgalema Shoba, commended the conduct of the members who made the gathering a success.

Shoba further lauded the role ward committees play as machinery of service delivery in their respective communities.

“The cooperation between councillors, ward committees and communities will take the municipality to greater heights,” stated Shoba.

Mayor Eddie Eddie Maila officially opened the conference on Wednesday, 14 May. In his opening address, Maila complimented the role played by members of the committees in the delivery of basic services.

“Ward committees are the foot soldiers in the provision of services and at the coalface of delivery,” expressed Maila.

He urged the members and ward councillors to work together to address challenges faced by the communities. “The gap between councillors and ward committees must be closed and that will assist in disseminating correct information to the community,” added Maila.
