In order to accelerate services to the communities, Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) will open satellite offices all over the district.
SDM’s executive mayor Hon Cllr Minah Bahula has on May 8 officially launched a transformative service delivery initiative through the establishment of SDM Offices across all four local municipalities.
The first office is now operational at the Kgaola Mafiri Building in the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality in Jane Furse.
This initiative, also shaped during the District’s strategic planning session in February, aims to bring government services closer to communities, improving accessibility and prompt responsiveness to local needs.
“The District’s work must be visible. We are committed to changing the narrative and ensuring our people experience real and tangible service delivery,” said the executive mayor.
Bahula said given the size and diversity of Makhuduthamaga, two satellite offices will be established: one at Kgaola Mafiri Building for the Jane Furse cluster, and another at Makgwabe Community Hall to serve the Masemola cluster communities .
The two will be headed by Members of Mayoral Committee, Cllr Mabatane Mathale and Cllr Leokana Kanana respectively.
These offices will function as political and high-level administrative support centers, strengthening intervention and coordination in service delivery across the District.
The Executive Mayor says: “In the interim, EPWP workers will be engaged to support and monitor activities at the new offices. Their role will be to serve as a vital link between the community and the Executive Mayor’s office, without disrupting the normal provision of municipal services.”
The Executive Mayor thanked the leadership of Makhuduthamaga Municipality led by Hon Mayor Cllr Merah Mahlase and Council Speaker , Hon Cllr Judy Nkgadima for the support and assistance.
Meanwhile on May 9, another satellite office was launched, this time at Fetakgomo Tubatse’s Apel offices in Ga Nkwana. Both the SDM mayor Bahula and Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor Hon Cllr Eddie Maila graced the occasion.
