MLM activates Registering Authority programme

The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) has made significant strides in enhancing its service delivery programmes.
A major milestone was achieved with the activation of the Registering Authority (RA) at the municipality’s headquarters in Jane Furse recently.
The development is expected to boost revenue growth through motor vehicle and motorcycle registration and licensing.
The RA disclosed that the municipality’s third-quarter performance review revealed impressive results, with 87 out of 90 planned targets achieved, translating to a 97% performance rate.
The review covered various Key Performance Areas (KPAs), including Spatial Rational with 100%, Basic Service Delivery with 96%, Local Economic Development scoring 100%, Financial Management and Viability standing at 94%, Good Governance and Public Participation with 100% and Institutional Development and Transformation standing at 94%.
The municipality’s Infrastructure Development Department is making notable progress on the Kome Access Road, Phase 2.
Additionally, the municipality will receive an extra R25 million for effective execution and spending on Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) projects.
During the meeting, MLM Municipal Manager, Ronald Moganedi, presented a quarterly overview and highlighted a milestone in critical service delivery programmes, such as the Department of Transport activating the Registering Authority (RA) at the Municipality’s head offices in Jane Furse.
The EXCO Lekgotla hailed the municipality’s Community Services Department for finally making RA services available to the public, indicating a significant possibility for revenue growth through motor vehicle and motorcycle registration and licensing.
MLM Mayor, Merah Mahlase, emphasized the importance of improving revenue sources to fulfil community expectations.
“We are making good progress toward our service delivery and performance management targets, and our communities expect more impactful development,” she said.
