Elias Motsoaledi kick-starts draft IDP and budget consultations with traditional leaders
GROBLERSDAL – Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality kick-started its draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and budget consultative meetings with traditional leaders at the council chamber in Groblersdal on 8 April.
Mayor Tladi and Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Infrastructure and Water Services (IWS), Carpos Ngobeni, who also stood on behalf of Executive Mayor Minah Bahula, engaged the traditional leaders in the session which the municipality describes as a significant step towards inclusive governance.
The primary objective of the joint 2025/2026 draft IDP and budget is to foster collaboration between local government and traditional leadership, ensuring that community voices form an integral part of planning and budgeting processes.
Simon Makua, EMLM spokesperson, said by involving traditional leaders, the municipality seeks to enhance transparency, accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the community.
“This initiative underscores the local government’s commitment to promoting inclusive governance and working closely with all stakeholders in shaping the future of the municipality,” indicated Makua.
He highlighted that the collaborative effort not only speaks to the municipality’s dedication to engaging with all stakeholders but also sets a precedent for future initiatives aimed at creating a responsive and prosperous community.
The consultations are expected to be extended to the general public, rate payers and representative forum in the coming days until 17 May.
