Suspect wanted for serious and violent crimes shot dead

CAPRICORN – A 36 year-old suspect who was facing over 17 serious and violent crimes, and had been on the run from the police, was shot dead after he was found at a hideout in Ga-Komape Village, Moletjie during an exchange of fire with police.

Members of the Mopani District Highway Patrol, Mopani Tracking Team, joined by Seshego police and other South African Police Service (SAPS) units, conducted an intelligence-led operation in Moletjie, Ga-Moeti Village within the Seshego policing precinct, tracing the suspect on Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect committed serious and violent crimes in the Hlanganani policing area, Giyani between 2022 and 2025.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial police spokesperson, said upon arrival at the identified address, the members acted swiftly and the suspect came out from a room, firing shots towards the police who retaliated. The suspect was fatally shot.

Ledwaba informed that police have opened a case of inquest at the Seshego police station for further investigations.

“The firearm and motor vehicle which the suspect was using were confiscated. The suspect will be linked with three cases of murder, four of attempted murder, one of carjacking, eight of business robbery and malicious damage to property. IPID were notified and they also visited the scene,” explained Ledwaba.
