Over a 1000 households to benefit from previously stalled water project

SEOKODIBENG – The previously stalled water project in Seokodibeng Village within the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality is soon expected to be commissioned to provide the commodity to over a 1000 households in the area.

During her recent visit to the area, Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula further assessed the dilapidated dam there and announced plans for a steel tank’s installation in future to enhance the village’s water storage capacity.

Residents welcomed the development as a step towards ending their long-standing water challenges.

Several communities in Sekhukhune district remain forced to share water with animals at available sources such as remote rivers and ditches.

The Executive Mayor has since her assumption of office over a year ago established a borehole distribution initiative at traditional authorities as an interim measure to address lack of access to water across the region.

The water project in Seokodibeng was completed in August last currently is undergoing maintenance and purification to ensure its water is safe for consumption.

Bahula’s stop at the village marked day-3 of her team’s assessment of the water challenges in the sub-region where stakeholders were engaged over the matter.

Contractors of boreholes were also handed over at Ga-Kgoshigadi Riba, Kgoshigadi Mailsela, Kgoshigadi Malepe, Kgoshi Koete, Kgoshi Masete traditional authorities as well as Matshelapata Section in Malokela.
