MEC Maseko launches Back to School campaign in Fetakgomo-Tubtase
FETAKGOMO-TUBATSE – Limpopo MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Jerry Maseko, launched the 2025 Back to School campaign in Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality, accompanied by local Mayor, Eddie Maila.
MEC Maseko and Mayor Maila visited Batau and Mmiditsi secondary schools in the area which displayed outstanding performances in the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
Mmiditsi Secondary School achieved 93% matric pass rate in the 2024 NSC examinations while Batau attained 87%, above the provincial target of set for 80%.
The leaners at the schools were encouraged to focus on their studies and respect both parents and educators to succeed in life.
The aim of the visit was to motivate learners to work hard and further assess their readiness as the 2025 academic year starts. Maseko also presented hockey equipment to both institutions of learning.
Limpopo excellently achieved 85.5% 2024 NSC matric results, an improvement of 5.5% from 2023 79.5% which saw the province rise to position six countrywide.
Speaking during the provincial announcement of the results at the Ranch Hotel on Tuesday, 14 January, Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Rmathuba, said for the first time since the dawn of democracy in the country, Limpopo has surpassed the 80% mark in the matric results, with all but one circuit performing above 70%, crediting that 90 000 learners completed their matric in 2024.
“I want to reiterate how proud I am of each learner who has contributed to our achievement this year. To our teachers and parents, thank you for your unwavering support and guidance. It is through this collective effort that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our learners, and, by extension, our communities.
