The first citizen of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM), Cllr Eddie Maila was as busy as a bee during the festive season. Maila ensured services were accelerated to the locals during the busy festive period. Some of the projects that caught the eyes included the donations he made on Christmas Day.
To keep a wolf at bay, Maila donated food hampers to needy families on December 25 .The donations were handed at the municipality’s chamber.
Maila reiterated that the foods were going to last a few weeks and will allow the families to have a merrier festive season. More than 40 families benefitted from the donations.
“These hampers will guarantee that they enjoy Christmas, the festive period, and the tough January month,” he said.
Maila said in the past four years, all Ward councillors in the municipality’s 39 wards were able to identify beneficiaries, especially child-headed families who are struggling to put food on the table.
“Today, most of these families are beneficiaries here,” he said as he handed the food parcels.
He also thanked all Fetakgomo Tubatse councillors for their commitment in serving the communities at all times.
“We thank all volunteers who heeded the call by donating food hampers to this worthy course,” concluded Maila.

He bestowed the mothers with gifts that included diapers, formulas, baby lotions, bath tubs, mini blankets and many more. The mothers, all thanked Maila for handing them unexpected gifts.
Maila said this annual visit is conducted to pay respect to and celebrate the healthcare workers who safely deliver babies in public health facilities.

He noted that this is a testament to the fact that public facilities are able to deliver services to satisfactory levels. Maila called upon the public to work together with healthcare workers and to treat them with respect, rather than abuse.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration in order to provide quality services. During the time of his visit at about 11:00, a total of seven babies had been delivered at both hospitals.
