Limpopo Holiday Fair attracts national and foreign visitors
POLOKWANE
Hundreds of tourism enthusiasts from various parts of South Africa and neighbouring countries have from Thursday 31 October to Sunday 3 November 2024, converged in Polokwane for the 8th Edition of the Annual Limpopo Holiday Fair.
The annual consumer show was since established in 2016, organized by the Polokwane Tourism Association (PTA) in partnership with key tourism stakeholders including the Polokwane Municipality, Limpopo Provincial Tourism Association (LPTA), the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and Capricorn District Municipality (CDM).
The tourism event lick-started with more than 150 exhibitors lining-up at Savanah Mall, with visitors getting an opportunity to explore products and services showcased by Limpopo entrepreneurs.
The 2024 holiday fair also welcomed buyers from Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West, as well as international participants from Zimbabwe, Botswana, and many more countries.
These attendees had the opportunity to engage with exhibitors and explore the diverse tourism offerings of Limpopo and its neighbouring regions.
On Sunday morning, hosted buyers from South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe, gathered at Marlot Guesthouse for a farewell event where they shared insights and feedback on their experience in Limpopo.
Addressing them were Mr Edwell Matokane from LEDET, Ms Moipone Segoa of Polokwane Municipality, Mr. Gerhard Franken who is Chairperson of the PTA as well as Ms Lerato Sekgobela, Deputy Chairperson of PTA.
The speakers emphasized building connections across borders and the spirit of “Limpopo Ka December.”
The holiday fair was wrapped with a memorable Exhibitors’ Award Ceremony, celebrating the dedication and creativity of Limpopo exhibitors who made this year’s event a success.
During the awards ceremony, the First Exhibitor to Sign Up Award was given to Cape Vulture Lodge & Conservancy, Most Visited Stand Award was given to Urban Motif Estate, Bodlongwa River Resort was crowned Best Creative & Innovative Stand Award, Best Brand-Conscious Stand Award went to Dignity Organic Pads and Best Stand Overall Award was given to Konanani Spa.
The attendees were also treated to an inspiring poem on unity by the Steam Ambassadors.
According to organisers, the Limpopo Holiday Fair serves as an important platform to promote local tourism, enhance knowledge sharing within the industry, and support the development of new tourism businesses. It plays a crucial role in facilitating collaboration among tourism professionals and contributes significantly to the recovery and growth of domestic tourism.
